The U15BB Orillia Hawks had a busy weekend.
On Friday, Nov. 8, the Hawks played at the Magna Centre against the fearless Central York Panthers. With home-ice advantage, the Panthers beat the Hawks 2-1. Orillia’s goal was scored by Jorjia Kitcher with the assist going to Ellie Lynch and Kallie Yakeley.
The North York Storm travelled to Gravenhurst to take on the Hawks on Saturday, Nov. 9. The fans were quite happy that the rink had turned on the heat. The Hawks also turned up the heat taking over the Storm with a 3-0 win. Sawyer Seberry was stellar in net, saving nine shots against her. Jorgia Kitcher started the night with an unassisted goal. Emilija Ligers and Ellie Lynch secured the win with the second and third goals. Assists were made by Cabot Ferguson, Lauren Torrance and Molly Mee.
Back on home ice at Rotary Place in Orillia, the Hawks faced Central York Panthers again and were looking to avenge Friday night’s loss. The fans were not disappointed. Olivia Weaver was on fire and stopped 13 shots, leading the Hawks to a 4-2 win. The first period saw defenceman Peyton Hoyt take a slapshot and score the first goal, unassisted. Not to be outdone, forward Emilija Ligers stepped up and fired one in the net unassisted. Isabella Cheslock and Ellie Lynch knew that two goals would not secure this win, and each took home a goal. Avery Dixon, Emilija Ligers, Kaydence Thompson and Isabella Cheslock each had an assist.
The Hawks will be in Barrie this upcoming weekend for Sharkfest. The puck drops at the Innisfil Recreation Centre at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by an 8 p.m. game at Eastview Arena. Saturday sees the Hawks playing at the Allandale Recreation Centre at 12:30 p.m.
