Orillia high-school runners gallop to success at GBSSA championship

Several OSS athletes qualify for provincial championship

Earlier this week, the Orillia Secondary School (OSS) cross country running team competed at the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association championship at Arrowhead Provincial Park in Huntsville.

There were 31 high-school teams from across the region at this meet.

All OSS runners put forward a determined effort and delivered solid results within some very competitive fields.

The Nighthawks' junior girls’ team achieved its goal and claimed first place at the meet with some stellar performances on the trails. Olivia Karn led the way placing third overall, followed closely by Audrey Rieckenberg in 4th. Other OSS runners also shone: Hannah Kennedy (14th), Lily Rowbotham (30th) and Aneri Patel (32nd).

Mason Jacobs placed seventh overall in the Para category.

The Junior Girls and Jacobs have now qualified for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association provincial championships which will take place on Nov. 3 in Dundas, ON.
