Orillia Lady Kings reign over rivals on the road

U11 squad set tone with dominating wins against Burlington, Owen Sound

The Orillia Lady Kings U11 girls field lacrosse team travelled to Peterborough this past weekend and battled to two big wins.

In their first game of the morning, Orillia played the Burlington Blaze and came out with a 17-9 win. Isabella Beaudin got her team fired up by scoring a whopping six goals. Rebekah Lacroix had four, Ali Almeida scored a hat trick, Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong had two goals, while Violet Whelan and Klara Culp each scored single markers.

In their second game, the Orillia U11s got off to a slower start, but quickly turned things around to score 17 goals again in their 17-11 win over the Owen Sound North Stars. Rebekah Lacroix led the scoring with six goals. Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong scored four, Ali Almeida had her second hat trick of the day, Violet Whelan scored two and Isabella Beaudin and Isabelle Oulette-Darling each scored singles.

The girls are playing in Oakville next weekend in their final games prior to provincial championships.

The Dan Parnell U15 Lady Kings girls field lacrosse team played in Peterborough this past weekend. In their first game against the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks #1, the ladies came up short and lost 14-5. The Kodiaks #1 is the league’s top-ranked team. Billie Rouse scored a hat trick and Rayne Noganosh scored two goals.

The second game of the day had a different outcome with Orillia winning 14-6 against the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks #2. Orillia dominated the field and goalie Katie Bunting was on fire. Singles were scored by Ryleigh McGuire, Samantha Harper, Olive-Marie Bomberry and Molly Bergeron. Billie Rouse scored two goals while Morgan Parnell and Rayne Noganosh each scored a whopping four goals.

Oakville is the next stop for the Lady Kings before heading to provincials.

The U19 John Mayo Nesbitt Burns girls field lacrosse team had another great weekend playing two very strong physical teams. The girls started the day defeating St. Catharines 9-8. Both Ava Wara and Emersyn McLaughlin recorded hat tricks. Mya Roe potted two goals and Ava Sage had one.

The second game of the day was very physical and the girls were able to keep their composure. However, they lost to a Six Nations team in a close battle 10-9. Scoring her first goal of the season was Camryn Murray. Emersyn McLaughlin and Jayden Taylor each had two goals and Kaelyn McDonald, Mya Roe, Emma Pilger and Camryn Knee each scored once. Mckayla Ruyter played two fantastic games in net. Our defence was solid being led by Kennedy Clarke, Claudia Page and Bridget Goard.
