U19

This past sunny Saturday the Second Century Sports U19-1 Orillia Lady Kings women’s lacrosse team returned to action in Oshawa after a well-deserved week off.

The Oakville Lady Hawks would be the ladies' early morning opponent and the team came ready to play, dominating the game for a 12-4 win. Ava Rouse and Mia Cresanto would pace the offence with four-goal and three-goal efforts respectfully. Jadyn Maracle, Olivia Glass, Willow Davidson, Leighton Therrien and Kady Shelswell all bulged the twine with singles.  Shelswell’s goal was even sweeter as it was her first shift after holding down the fort in net for the first half. Defenders Emma Marwick and Jess Nogannosh came up big with their ground ball game and solid defensive play keeping Oakville’s opportunities to a minimum.

Game two would see the Lady Kings take on the red-hot Guelph Regals. Orillia would dominate play in the first half, storming out to a 10-1 lead and an eventual 15-3 win. Hannah Rudge went off with four goals, cashing in on some crisp passes. This was a full team effort as it featured eleven different scorers. Mira Cresanto had a pair along with her dominance on face offs. Ava Rouse, Olivia Glass, Makenna Maracle, Emma Marwick, Catherine Varley, Leighton Therrien, Mia Craftchick, Willow Davidson, and Kady Shelswell would all add single markers. Although the score was lopsided, Evynn Stanford created multiple turnovers in both the offensive and defensive end helping control the pace for the Lady Kings, while Brooklynn Barker filling in between the pipes made some big saves throughout the game.

The Second Century Sports Lady Kings next see action when they travel to St. Catharines next weekend and will face off against the first-place powerhouse Oshawa Lady Blue Knights and the Owen Sound North Stars.

U19-2

In their second game against Newmarket Redbirds they faced a strong goalie and were finally able to crack her in the second half. Jayden Taylor scored in the third quarter with less than two minutes on the clock to get Orillia on the score sheet! Emerysn McLaughlin scored in the dying seconds of the third quarter. Mya Roe tied the game in the fourth quarter 3-3 and with one second left on the clock, Emersyn scored to defeat Newmarket 4-3! Camryn Knee, Brooklyn Page and Ava Sage were strong playmakers in the game and Camryn Murray worked hard in the midfield to scoop up loose balls. McKayla Ruyter had a very strong game in net.
