Catcher Will Timpano had a strong game behind the plates in the Orillia Royals win earlier this week and also knocked in the winning run in his team's 4-3 triumph.

The Orillia Royals remained perfect on the 2024 season, beating Mansfield 4-3 on Thursday night at Tudhope Park.

The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second before Mansfield scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead. Orillia responded quick with two more in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the victory.

Collecting hits for the Royal were Gabe Rutherford, Nathan Molloy, Kobe Geofroy, Will Timpano and Jhett and Whyatt Winkel. RBI’s went to Molloy, J. Winkel, Timpano and Teddy McCollum-Kuntz.

Nolan MacNeal and Chase Brennan pitched the first four scoreless innings, Emmit MacDonald pitched solidly to get the relief win while Owen Kaczanowski pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Timpano had a great defensive game for the Royals as well as cashing in the winning run.

The Royals host the Orangeville Bengals for a double header on Sunday, June 2, at 6 p.m. at the Jerry Udell diamond at Tudhope Park
