The Wes Brennan Construction Jr. Royals had their bats come alive for a six-run fifth inning en route to a 7-3 win over the visiting Innisfil Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Early on, the Royals could not solve the Innisfil starting pitcher, but then the Royals sent all nine batters to the plate in the explosive fifth.

Teddy McConnell-Kuntz provided some insurance in the seventh inning with a solo home run. Other Royals collecting hits were Owen Kanzanowski (2), Jhett Winkel (2), Whyatt Winkel, Nolan Ness-Thomas, Kobe Geofroy, Nolan MacNeal and James Pritchard.

James Pritchard scattered four hits and had six strikeouts in five innings for a solid start, while Emmit MacDonald bent but did not break, holding on for a two-inning save.

The Royals defence was stellar again, extending their error-free baseball to an incredible 25 innings and counting.

The Royals host Richmond hill tonight at 8:15 p.m. and are re-located to the Gander Ross ball diamond at McKinnell Park due to the Mariposa Folk festival set-up at Tudhope Park.

The Royals remain in second place with an 8-4 record.
