The Orillia Snowflake Series wrapped up its last race this past Sunday with medals and trophies being presented to the fleetest of foot after the 5 km run at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34.

This marked the 33rd year for this series of four races taking place in December and January with over 150 registered runners ranging from eight years of age to 74 years young.

Organized and operated under the tutelage of the Orillia Lions Club for the last several years, the funds raised go directly back into the community. This year the proceeds went to The Sharing Place, Lighthouse medical clinic, and Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario clinic at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.

Weather for the most part on all four races was true to the moniker Snowflake Series with light snow and temperatures below freezing, but none of this deterred the participants with runners coming from nearby communities to participate.

The Lions Club of Orillia want to thank our sponsors and participants for making this year’s series a success and are looking forward to next year.
