NEWS RELEASE
U10 A ORILLIA TERRIERS
*****************
The 2021-22 hockey season has come to a close for the Orillia Terriers U10 A team, who returned home with silver medals from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Championships held in Whitby this past weekend.
The Terriers opened the tournament with a comfortable 10-2 victory over the Quinte West U10 A team.
Game 2 of the day saw the Terriers up against the Centre Wellington Fusion. A back-and-forth game ensued and the Fusion came out victorious with a 2-1 win.
Saturday brought a new day of possibilities, and the Owen Sound Jr. Attack as the Terriers’ opponent. A very evenly matched game ended in a 1-1 tie, and gave the Terriers the chance to advance to the playoffs.
Sunday morning’s semifinal had the Terriers squaring off against their York-Simcoe division rival Georgina Blaze. In the end, the Blaze was no match for the Terriers, whose 6-1 victory sent them to the championship game to once again face the Centre Wellington Fusion.
The championship game would see the Fusion capitalize and hand the Terriers a 7-0 loss.
Though ending the season on a tough loss, the accomplishments for this team are numerous. Their final record was 37-6-1. The Terriers finished their York-Simcoe regular season with a 25-1-0 record, and an incredible +165 goal differential. Winning the Jim Wilson Classic tournament in Orillia and taking home silver at the Kingston Canadiens Tournament in February were two more milestones.
Team members include Bennett Hamilton, Caeden Burnet-Greene, Cohen Drumm, Evan McQuaid, Harrison Dean, Jack Schryer, Jimmy Ray Roberts, Kolby Thompson, Lachlan Cook, Lachlan McLean, Nixon Fraser, Owen Cheslock, Trent Willison, Tristan Crooke, Tyler Ericson and goalie Caden Dixon.
A huge thank you to our coaching staff — Doug Willison, Tony McQuaid, Chris Drumm, Derek Dean and Jessica Willison — for their time, and dedication to this team.
