The Twin Lakes Secondary School junior boys’ basketball team capped a stellar season recently by capturing the Simcoe County Athletic Association (SCAA) championship.
Twin Lakes compiled an impressive 5-1 record to finish atop the standings in the AA division. Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School finished in second place, thanks to a 4-2 regular-season record. It was fitting that the two teams met in the SCAA championship game.
In that title game on their home court, backed by their boisterous fans, the T’birds dominated the play from the opening whistle and scored a 75-50 victory.
“The boys dominated game play from the onset of the game playing great defense and seamlessly moving the ball on offence to earn the title,” said coach Jamie Bell. “It was a total team win for Twin Lakes with every player on the team scoring at least one basket.”
Bell and co-coach Bill Gowanlock said they were “proud of the way the boys played and how they came together as a team over the season.”
