The Julie Emery U10 rep Orillia Terriers narrowly won their February round-robin last week to advance to the York Simcoe semi-finals against the Richmond Hill Jaguars.
The Terriers won the opening game in the best-of-three series on Saturday at Rotary Place in a game which saw an offensive explosion in a back-and-forth affair.
Richmond Hill tied the game 8-8 with under a minute left with the goalie pulled to force overtime.
In the extra frame, the teams traded chances before Callum Lebarr finally netted the overtime winner with a mere 39 seconds left, capping off an impressive five-goal performance.
Other goal scores were Walker Cronin, Oscar Tilley (2) and Parker Lynch. Assists were tallied by Brett Ericson, Elias Bilissis Tommy Skentzos, Rebecca Lacroix, Olliver Mclean, Nash Butler and Tilley.
Spencer Collet won player of the game honours for being a centre filling in on defence for an ill Kyle Dickson.
Game 2 saw the Terriers travel to Richmond Hill on Sunday afternoon where a completely different script was written as the Orillia goaltending duo of Heydon MacKaracher (player of the game) and Thomas Truemner pitched a shutout in a dominant win.
After a scoreless first period, the visitors scored nine unanswered goals en route to a 9-0 triumph. Goals were scored by Ericson (3), Lebarr (2), Cronin, Lynch Owen Turner and Brooklyn Reed.
The win advances the Terriers to the York Simcoe division finals where they await the winner of Barrie and Collingwood.
