The Apple Athletic U14 Orillia Lightning soccer team completed its dream season on Monday evening.

The squad secured the President’s Cup after outscoring their competition 19-1 in post-season play.

The defence was led by Roghan Forrester-Coyne and Maxon King in the middle, with Jaida Keetch, Jackson Walker, Matthew Robbins, Taran Randhawa and Aiden Behun holding down the outside.

In the midfield, Isaac Jackson, Jackson Thomas and Hudson Aldridge locked down the centre, while Kail Huffman, Greyden King, Bowen Sutherland, Isaac Cansino and Fernando Bonifacio patrolled the wings.

Up front, the Lightning were led by Erick Martinez-Myles, who led the league in scoring with 17 goals, narrowly edging teammate Isaac Jackson. Sam Weaver, Caden Cheslock and Kypton Rhodes added to the offensive power, combining for 14 goals.

The majority of the goaltending duties were played by sure-hand Tyson Willison.

“We had a great season working together, and even in the close games we were able to push through as a team,” said Martinez-Myles.

The coaching staff of Jason King, Trevor Walker and Jamie Rhodes say they are extremely proud of their group. They say the team truly played complete games with unselfish play.
