A Day in the Life is taking on law and order in its latest instalment.

The ongoing Midland Cultural Centre series now features a virtual discussion with Chris Lewis, a career police officer and former OPP Commissioner. Area residents are invited to join program host and community producer, Fred Hacker, online for his conversation with Lewis.

Lewis served as the provincial force’s 13th commissioner. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, he became a career police officer working his way through assignments across the province.

In his varied and fascinating career path, he worked in tactics and rescue, polygraph examination, technical operations, criminal investigations, criminal intelligence, emergency management and information technology.

He became deputy commissioner of field operations under Commissioner Julian Fantino in 2007 and commissioner three years later.

“In more than 35 years of policing, he’s seen it all!” a note for the program stated.

But besides discussing the trial and tribulations of his long service career, Lewis also notes that he met his future wife at a murder scene.
