Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) still reports a clean bill of health as COVID-19 grips the rest of the province.
An official update from the hospital, provided by Sarah Pendlebury, executive assistant to Gail Hunt, president & chief executive office, said there are currently zero confirmed cases at GBGH.
Pendlebury said the hospital has now updated its visitor restrictions, which take effect from Saturday, March 21.
The new restrictions will allow only essential visitors access to GBGH. In her email, Pendlebury said, essential visitors are defined as those visiting the paediatrics/birthing unit/OBS. They are allowed to bring one adult support person to the hospital. At this time, no children are permitted.
In the emergency department, people are only allowed one adult essential visitor, as determined eligible by the care team.
There are, however, some exceptions, indicated Pendlebury in her email. Those special circumstances are determined by the care team and can include gravely ill or dying patients, or other unique situations as deemed eligible by the care team.
Patients will receive free internet, television, and telephone services from their bedside systems during the period of visitor restrictions. Those who fail screening will not be permitted to enter GBGH premises.
