Shirley Abbott, at the age of 90, called Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Trillium Manor, Orillia. Shirley’s true joy in life was teaching and loving people. She was a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators for over 50 years spending much of that time in the Philippines. Shirley Mae Abbott, loving sister of the late Erlla Hartman (the late Ronald); the late Bruce (Lois) Abbott and the late Wilma (the late Colin) Wright. Honorable mother of Jesse, Lita and Angulina. Best friend to Taganay. Much loved Aunt of Susan (Don McLachlan), Ron (the late Gerri), Paul (the late Sandra), Ed (Lara) and the late John Hartman., Paul ( late Debbie), Tracy, Gerry, Tom (Lori) and Laurie (John). Loving great and great great Aunt of many more nieces and nephews. Beloved co-worker and friend to Pat Hartung; and many other missionaries from around the World and with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Due to COVID restrictions, a virtual celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1 o'clock p.m. on Emmanuel Orillia's YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClsaB8qxqMiexqaME8x268A/videos). Private family interment at St. Andrew's-St. James' Cemetery, Orillia will follow. Memorial donations made in Shirley's honour, to Emmanuel Orillia or Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada, would be appreciated by the family.
