It is with tremendous sadness, with family by his side, that we announce the unexpected passing of William Edwin Bellamy (Bill) on Thursday Oct 31, 2024, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie at the age of 80.

Bill was the loving husband of 53 years to his beautiful wife, Sharron Mary Bellamy (nee: Patton). Devoted Father to Christina Sharron Payne (nee: Bellamy), loving Father in-law to Wallace Sheldon Payne and affectionate Grandfather to Granddaughter Kennedy Bellamy Payne.

Bill will be greatly missed by his loving & supportive family. His sister, Lois & his brother-in-law John, his brother Ralph & sister in-law Pat and his youngest brother Paul & sister in-law, Stephanie. He will also be sadly missed by his 5 sister in-laws and 4 brother in-laws. Betty & her husband Bob, Linda & her husband Orly, Roger & his wife Pat, Kathy & her husband John, Judy & Helen. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Bill will be especially missed by his loving companion of the last 3 years, Cheryl Aloussis of Barrie, ON who he adored adventuring with.

Bill was born in Alliston, ON to William & Margaret Bellamy on July 16th, 1944. He had a full, family life growing up on their farm(s) before attending DeVry Poly-Technical College in Toronto where he graduated and started a long, successful career in cable television and telecommunications working his way up to management. Then decided to pursue a waterfront dream and purchased Kahshe Lake Resort in Muskoka operating it with family for 2 years before returning to the GTA where he decided he would have more fun working in telecommunication sales.

Bill and Sharron resided in Orillia for 17 years after relocating from Burlington, ON. Then he moved to Barrie, ON and thoroughly enjoyed condo life along Kempenfelt Bay the last 2 years.

He was a devoted family man who adored spending quality time at many of the family cottages over the years, family gatherings/ weddings/reunions, birthday parties, golf tournaments, retirement parties, family vacations and graduations.

He will be remembered for his humility, generosity, Canadian pride, and being a true gentleman. His tremendous strength & courage particularly in his last 6 weeks was unwavering. His loyalty to his faith, family and those that became like family was everlasting. From his lifelong friends around the world to his cherished MH family to his years of making long lasting friendships in the cable/ telecommunications industry, everyone made an impression, and he loved staying connected. International travels, countless moving adventures, and a genuine interest in people and their stories, always willing to offer advice or see how he may contribute towards helping them get closer to their goals. The smile when he greeted you with an extended hand said it all.

His morning oatmeal, his infamous peanut butter, honey, banana & cheese sandwiches, anything chocolate and having stock in ketchup, these things were him, legendary. However, his love for his Toronto Maple Leafs was larger than the Stanley Cup itself, just like our love for him.

“You’ll never know what could happen, if you don’t put your stick on the ice and show them.”

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff (particularly the nurses) in the Respiratory and Cancer Units at the Royal Victoria Regional Hospital.

A visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie) on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:30am-12:30pm, with a Celebration of life service from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Following the service, a reception with catering and refreshments will be held at Adams Funeral Home from 2:00pm-4:30pm.

If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Messages of condolences are always welcome.
