Passed away peacefully at Victoria House on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of Murray Ross Binsted (predeceased) for 68 years. Loving and devoted mother of Karen Weeks (Lee, predeceased), Kevin Binsted (Mary), Heather Peverley (James) and David Binsted (Heidi). Survived by brother George Black (Beth). Survived by sister-in-law Dale Galloway (Gord). Predeceased by sisters-in-law Frances Molyneaux (Alf, predeceased) and Betty Lou Pifer (Wayne, predeceased) Predeceased by her parents David and May Black. Proud and loving Grandmother of Daina Greenwood (Jeff), Rhonda Gray (Kevin), Andrew Peverley (Amanda), Alison Peverley, Ross Peverley (Cheyenne), Helena Anderson and great grandmother of Sydney Greenwood, Ashley Greenwood, Stella Gray, Simon Gray, Sophie Peverley and Isla Peverley.
Margaret had many interests, talents, and hobbies, which included cottaging, pets (numerous cats and a cherished Terrier, Brindle) travelling, gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, and attending numerous family functions and graduations. Margaret was an excellent baker, and is fondly remembered for her chocolate chip cookies. Margaret worked for the Parry Sound Northstar newspaper as well as the Parry Sound High School.
Margaret journeyed with her husband Murray during his pastoral career throughout many northern Ontario towns and villages, and she served in a variety of roles as a pastor’s wife.
The family would like to take this opportunity to especially thank her lifelong friends who were valued by Margaret over the years. We would also like to thank Victoria House Retirement Home, Dr. Daraei, Bayshore Health Care, Rev. Will Haughton and the Forest Home United Church family, as well as Michelle Vivie who was a great friend and care giver over the last 3 years.
Cremation has taken place, with a Celebration of Life to take place in the spring. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County or Forest Home United Church and are greatly appreciated.
