Passed away peacefully on his own terms at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Monday March 10th, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born in Cooksville and raised in Lakeview. Beloved son of the late William and Margaret Buss. Loving father of Carey, Lawrence (Joy) and Frank. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Micheal (Jackie) and great grandfather of Jorden, Elenor and Domenic. Predeceased by his siblings Lillian Buss and Glenn Buss (Tiny).
Dave was the owner of several businesses in the Orillia area, David M. Buss - Skate Sharpening (both at Bryan Orser Arena and at the Orillia Community Center), Orillia Small Motors, Agro Construction, Joyland Beach General Store, and the Buss Fix it Shop - (Fix Anything but a Broken Heart), finally retiring from Sarjeants after 17 years of driving a ready-mix truck. He was very active in the Orillia community. An avid hockey fan, he owned and operated Junior B Travelways Hockey Club and coached Bantam Hockey. He was a 30 year plus member of the Couchiching Golf Club as well as president of the Lions Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed wintering in Florida, attending flea markets, auctions and car shows both in Orillia and Florida where he was known as Mr. BA. He owned several antique vehicles through the years, including his 1929 Model A Ford Tudor, a 1953 Dodge BA truck and a 1965 Massey Tractor. He had an extensive collection of BA memorabilia, metal cars and Ready-mix trucks. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know him.
Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia on Friday March 14th, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the chapel at 12:00 noon.
