It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Mother and Nan Irene Cantwell. In her 81st year on November 1st 2024, All Saints Day Irene passed peacefully in her sleep.
Irene was born December 26th 1943 in Egremont township. At age 10, she moved to Toronto, a place she truly loved. In 1996 Irene moved to the cottage in Brock where she thrived as the matriarch of our family.
Predeceased by her husband Jim, as well as her siblings Mable, Marjorie, Olive, Frank, Jim, Edward, Munroe and Bessie. Leaving behind her cherished daughters Janine (Rob), Karie (Joe), and Tara (Dave). She was a treasured Nan to Brayden, Tayler, Cassandra, Jaime, Sydney, and Anthony, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Irene was a sophisticated, quick witted social butterfly. She was an avid reader, and lover of the arts. Her final days were spent doing what she loved, going for dinners, shopping, hanging with the girls, and spending time with those dearest to her. She left her mark with her daring style and bold personality, but her greatest impact was her warmth and love.
Visitation will be held at the Mangan Funeral Home on Thursday November 7th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Beacan Presbyterian Church on Friday November 8th at 1:30p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. If so desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Beaverton Lions Club would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences are welcome at www.manganfuneralhome.com
