September 20, 1941 – February 4, 2025
It is with sadness, and fond memories, that we share the peaceful passing of Roger Ira Clark on February 4, 2025, at the age of 83 years.
Roger was a storyteller, with a quick wit and a passion for flight (and a fondness of pie). He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 62 years, Carol Virginia (nee Bard) Clark. Also mourning his loss are his children: Ingrid Clark (of Guelph), Geoffrey (Emy) Clark, and Gillian (John) Wiggins. Roger was much-loved by his grandchildren: Jordan (Kate) Flannigan, Kelsey Flannigan, Gabrielle Clark, Sydney Clark, and Piper Wiggins; along with his two great-grandchildren: Liam and Owen Flannigan. Roger is dearly missed by his brothers: Gary Clark and Kent (Roberta) Clark of Prince Edward Island and their children to whom he was Uncle Roger; and his brother-in-law Alf (Bev) Bard, sister-in-law Edie (Ken) Bard and sister-in-law Suzy Bard, and their children. Predeceased by: his parents Frederick and Lillian (nee Rodgerson) Clark, sister-in-law Elaine (nee Glover) Clark, and niece Amber (nee Clark) Jadis, all of PEI, and brothers-in-law Peter Bard and Cecil Bard, of Orillia.
Roger was a dedicated member of his faith community at Central United Church, Barrie, for many years, and he and Carol also attended Northwest Barrie United Church. Roger was also an active and respected community member, as President and member of the Golden K (Kiwanis Club of Barrie), member of the Probus Club of Barrie-Huronia, and a member of RAPCAN – Retired Airline Pilots of Canada. He will be missed by many colleagues, friends and neighbours.
The sky was his true home. As a pilot, First Officer and Captain with the Canadian Air Force for 20 years, and then flying for commercial airlines for several years, Roger travelled the world. Indeed, he didn’t do it alone. With his wife, Carol, by his side, they explored more countries around the globe than one could count. The warmth of sunny Florida and Aruba were favoured destinations.
Roger has now flown his final approach, to be with his Heavenly Father.
May he rest in peace knowing that he was much-loved.
A visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent St., Barrie) on Monday February 10, from 12:00pm-2:00pm. A funeral service will also be taking place at 2:15pm with a reception to follow. A spring burial will be booked at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to:
