July 8, 1944 – September 10, 2023
Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Juluia Cooey, with family at her side, at the Hospice Georgian Triangle Campbell House in Collingwood Ontario on September 10th, 2023. She was the daughter of Alice and Edgar Hartwig. Predeceased by her loving husband, Glenn Cooey (1999) Juluia is survived by her loving children Tim, Chris ( Shona), and Colleen ( Mike ) and her cherished grandchildren Liam, Jayeden, Airoh, Grace, and Caden. Juluia was born in Killaloe, Ontario in the home that her father built. Juluia’s family moved to Cobourg Ontario, where she attended Cobourg High School where she met her husband Glenn Cooey in grade 10. Juluia and Glenn were wed in 1965 and went on to purchase their first home in Baltimore Ontario, where they began their family life raising their three children. Juluia spent her time lovingly raising her children and helping Glenn with the family photography business Cooey’s Star Lab. Juluia was an avid reader and a fantastic baker. She cherished spending time in her lush gardens and was known for her paintings of birds and scenery. Every chance she got she was focused on her five grandchildren; celebrating and supporting them along their journeys. Juluia was a devoted wife, incredible mother, loving Grammie, cherished sister, and beloved aunt. She spoke highly of her beloved friends and all of the kind souls she met in her travels. Juluia held her faith in high regard and was offered much peace in her last few days by Pastor Chris Cooke who came to be by her side. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Campbell House in Collingwood. The team of people who cared for her are all earth angels. They gave her the peace and dignity she deserved in her last days and she passed surrounded by people that loved her. A graveside service as per Juluia’s wishes will be held at the Cobourg Union Cemetery 25 Elgin Street West Cobourg ON at 12:30 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 with a reception to follow at the Mill Golf Course located beside the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Georgian Triangle (https://hospicegeorgiantriangle.com/donate/) and will be received by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
