September 13, 1928 – July 10, 2024

Raymond (Ray) Francis Joseph Grenier was born on September 13, 1928 in Penetanguishene, Ontario to Anna (DeVillers) and Celestin Grenier and died peacefully at home on Wednesday July 10, 2024.

Pre-deceased by his wife Sue (Dorothy Gartlan), his siblings Beatrice, Loretta, Norma, and Paul, and his granddaughter Danielle, he is survived by his son Patrick (Pierrette), granddaughter Michele (Adam), great-granddaughters, as well as his sisters Doris, Patricia and Catherine, and many nieces and nephews.

As a young man, Ray was a sailor on a Great Lakes freighter, the St. Hilliers before joining the Ontario Provincial Police (retiring in 1984). He was an avid boater, an expert fisherman and a prolific gardener.

Known to his family as Pepere and “Uncle Ray”, to fellow boaters he was the “Mayor of Frying Pan Bay”. We will remember him for the twinkle in his eye, his many colloquial expressions and sayings, and for growing “the best tomatoes in Simcoe County”.

The family will receive friends at Carson Funeral Homes – L.Doolittle Chapel  54 Coldwater St. E Orillia, Ontario L3V 1W5 (705)326-3595 on Wednesday August 28, 2024 from 1 – 3 pm. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
