May 19, 1958 – March 8, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Stephen Hawkins, known fondly as Dan or Danny, who passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born on May 19, 1958, in Barrie, Dan spent most of his life in Oro-Medonte, where he built a reputation as a kind-hearted, hardworking man who was always willing to lend a hand.
Dan dedicated his career to working as a mechanic at Hawkins Garage, the family business founded by his grandfather. Passed down through generations, Hawkins Garage became more than just a workplace for Dan — it was a reflection of his pride in his craft and his commitment to others. People loved going to see Dan at the garage because they knew they’d be treated with honesty and fairness. He was known for his integrity and the genuine care he showed to everyone who walked through his door.
Dan’s generosity knew no limits. Whether it was after a long day at work or on a weekend, he was always willing to lend a hand. He spent much of his free time helping friends, neighbours, and even strangers — quietly showing up whenever someone needed him. Dan never asked for anything in return; he simply believed in doing what he could to help others.
Above all, Dan will be remembered for his warmth, his kindness, and his unwavering support for those around him.
Dan leaves behind his three children, Justin, Ashley, and Brittney, as well as his sister, Judy, and his nephew, Ryan, who will forever cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his parents, Marlene and Vernon Hawkins.
Dan’s legacy of hard work, compassion, and generosity will live on in the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 from 2:30-4:30pm at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie. Online condolences may be placed at www.adamsfuneralhome.ca
