1939-2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Jackson, who passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, at the age of 86.
Roy’s life was defined by his love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his quiet and steady selflessness.
Born in Toronto, Roy’s career began humbly as a sheet metal worker at the age of 15, where he quickly earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and his attention to detail. Over the years, his commitment to excellence and leadership qualities led him to rise through the ranks, from a Foreman and Field Superintendent to eventually becoming the Mechanical Department Manager at Comstock International in Sudbury. From 1979 to 2005, Roy served as Construction Manager for Branair Ltd.
Roy was always driven by strong family values. He was pre-deceased by his wife Mary-Lou, and they were the loving parents of four children, Jennifer, Jonathan, Lee-Anne and Laura. Roy’s greatest joy were his 9 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jared, Hope, Julien, Timothy, Matthew, Damien, Willow and Joshua. To his great delight, Roy got to meet his great-grandson and namesake, Hope and Damon’s son, Bowen Roy last year!
Roy was pre-deceased by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Edna Dibble and by his six siblings, Doris, Jean, Bernice, John, Gord and Barbara. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Our dad was a solid and unwavering presence in the lives of those who loved him. His kindness was quiet but constant, his humour a little cheesy, and his generosity never asked for recognition. He was our safe place – a source of strength and we were lucky to call him Dad/Grandpa.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday March 9, 2025, from 1-4pm at Kelsey’s Orillia in the Sam Brown Room located at 405 Memorial Ave, Orillia
