Passed away at Mariposa House Hospice, surrounded by her family, on Friday, November 8th, 2024, in her 67th year following a brave and very brief battle with lung cancer. Adored wife and best friend of Don for 47 years. Loving and devoted mother of Lisa Ferguson (Rob, predeceased) and Crystal Jacobson-Pilon (Gerry). Proud gramma of Macguire, Canyon, Calder, and Cabot, who are the lights of her life. Beloved daughter of Dorothy (nee: Owens) and the late Norman "Earl" Steadman. Cherished sister of Colleen (Doug) Turner, Sharon Steadman (Franklin de Graaf), Donna Steadman, Norman Steadman, Gord Steadman, Debbie Tinline (Randy) and Kenny Steadman (Cheryl). Loved sister-in-law of Pam Reed and the late Dave Jacobson.
Rene lit up every room she entered and made friends with everyone. She was happiest helping others and she gave her heart to many organizations dedicated to helping vulnerable women over the years, including Couchiching Jubilee House, North Simcoe Victim Services and Big Sisters. Rene will be fondly remembered for her kindness, big smile and sunny disposition by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Rene did things her way, and had a gift for organization and “getting stuff done”. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
