Mary passed away suddenly at home on Monday May 10th with her husband by her side.  She was 89.

Mary Barbara Johnson was born in Orillia and attended Atherley Public school and ODCVI.  She is descended from the Whitney and Anderson families who settled in Atherley, Ontario and Rosetown, Saskatchewan.

Mary and her loving husband Leonard were familiar faces in downtown Orillia, walking hand-in-hand.  Mary always remembered your name and the last conversation you had together.

Known for her warmth and kindness, she will be deeply missed by her husband Leonard Johnson, her daughter Dorthea Hangaard, her brother and sister-in-law Norm and Irene Whitney, nieces and nephews Marty Whitney, Murray Whitney, Anne Locke, Ellen Whitney, Jane Thompson and Robert Thompson.   Sister Isobel Thompson pre-deceased.

Gratitude to Care Partners, Helping Hands, the LHIN, Don, Dawn, all the neighbours at 60 Coldwater St. E., and the many shopkeepers of downtown Orillia.  Your support allowed Mary to continue living independently with Len in the community she loved.

There will be a small memorial service at St. James Anglican Church in Orillia on Monday May 17th at 10:30 am by invitation only, respecting the guidelines of the current provincial stay-at-home order.

Donations in her honour can be made to St. James Anglican Church, Helping Hands, or The Couchiching Conservancy and will be received by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.
