June 6, 1941 - May 29, 2024
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Kean.
Dorothy passed peacefully at Spencer House, Orillia on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, at 82 years of life.
Dorothy was born in South Porcupine, Timmins, a loved daughter of the late Gordon and Edith (Gilbert) Kean. She was a sister to her beloved brother the late Edward ‘Ted” Kean (1981) and the late Dorothy June Kean (1940). Dorothy is survived by her niece , Sharon Kean and her many loving cousins.
Dorothy moved with her parents to eventually settle in Orillia where she worked at ARC Industries. Dorothy relished in the freedom her bicycle gave her and was fiercely independent.
She loved regaling us with her memory and musical abilities on her accordion, completing puzzles, her craftsmanship with multiple medium crafting and latch hook masterpieces. She had an infectious laugh and was always happy to participate in a little bit of silliness. Dorothy enjoyed life to the fullest and was happy to travel to sunny beaches and to visit cousins.
Loved dearly by Carol, Anita, Marsha Montgomery, Karen Kuehner and families.
The late Dorothy Kean will rest at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia, on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, from 12:30 pm until time of service at 2 pm. Reception to follow. Interment: St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery, Orillia at 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Helping Hands, or OSMH. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at OSMH, Helping Hands, Spencer House, Empower Simcoe, and all the Community Services, for the loving care they provided to Dorothy whenever she was in need.
