Entered into rest on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Hyland Crest Long Term Care in Minden. John Mangan, born in Beaverton, was the son of the late Francis Maurice Mangan (1997) and Frances Ethel Kelly (1992).
He was the loving father of Leona Mangan and her husband John of Minden, Julie Cameron and her husband Alex of Woodville, Sarah Reynolds and her husband Kris of Lindsay and pre-deceased by Caleb Pearce McMillan. Proud Poppa of Greg Mangan, Clayton, Patrick, and Hannah Cameron, and Thomas and Ryker Reynolds. Dear brother of Tom Mangan of Beaverton, Frank Mangan and his wife Cheryl of Brechin, and Kathy Mangan of Vancouver.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved being in nature, with a particular passion for hunting and fishing. He always took pride in staying at the camp over Thanksgiving and joked about not returning until after deer season. Because of his time spent as a Union Steward and Linesman at Ontario Hydro, folks there knew him by the nickname "Mags," while those from around Beaverton knew him as "Jack"—both names he answered without missing a beat. Saturday's in the summer were for cutting grass and visiting with friends. He could always be counted on to be there for family and friends.
The family of John Mangan will receive friends at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls, on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. If desired memorial donations to Fenelon Falls Royal Canadian Legion or Hyland Crest LTC Residents Fund would be gratefully received in his honour.
