With great sadness, the family of James (Jim) Aiken Marshall announces his passing on Friday, June 11, 2021.  Born April 28, 1926 in Hanbury, Ontario, he was the youngest son of Alfred and Margaret Marshall. Jim has lived in the Orillia area for the past 35 years, but he and his beloved wife, the late Evelyn Iris (nee Hough), resided in a number of Ontario communities including Orillia, Thornloe, Bolton, the greater Toronto area, and South Porcupine during their 67 years of marriage.

The couple were dedicated parents to five children, Rodney George, the late Catherine Lynn (Bill Shaw), Brian James (Janice Byerlay), Stuart Paul (Line Chicoine), and Carolyn Ruth (Martin Schneider).  He is survived by four of his children, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren.

Jim, in partnership with his wife, Evelyn, operated several businesses. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and valued hard work.  Jim had a special love for the transport industry and continued to eagerly follow its developments vicariously through his sons and grandsons long after his retirement. Jim was always interested in learning new things and pursuing new challenges.  Whether he was perfecting his carpentry, or learning the marvels of the internet, he approached each stage of his life with a desire to grow.  This ceaseless curiosity was an inspiration to those around him, including those decades younger.  He enjoyed countless rich and valued friendships across the seasons of his life, and was considered a great mentor by many.  He will be sorely missed, but the lessons he taught will live on.    Cremation has taken place.  Arrangements entrusted to the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together.  Keep me in your heart. I’ll be there forever.”  A.A. Milne
