It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Flynn McHugh on September, 23rd, 2024, at the age of 84, in Orillia, Ontario. A man of many talents, Peter had a sharp mind and a creative spirit. Throughout his life, he pursued a wide range of passions, including history, historiography, aeronautics, canoeing, photography, motor sports racing, and playing/teaching guitar. His engineering skills and curiosity led him on countless adventures, always exploring and learning. A dedicated Stelco Steel Employee from 1959 (Cold Mill and Tin Mill) to his retirement in 1993 (Senior Service Metallurgist).Peter was born on March 4, 1940, in Hamilton, Ontario. He leaves behind a family touched by his humor and intellect, and his memory will be carried on in the stories shared by those who knew him well. Beloved husband and best friend to his wife Ruth (née Roberts, predeceased). Brother to Paul (Judy) and Patricia (Frank). Father of Christopher (Anna), Jamie (Don), David (Alisa), Daniel (Amanda), Robin (Julie), and Valerie. Grandfather of Abel, Benjamin, Gabriel, Megan, Monica, Patrick, Robert, Sarah, Spencer, Terrylynn and William. Great Grandfather to Maeve. Predeceased by brothers-in-law James and Hugh (Sharon) Roberts. Peter is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Flynn McHugh Sr and Gladys McHugh (née White). A Celebration of Life will be held in Peter's honour at Knollwood Golf Club, 914 Book Rd W, Ancaster, ON L9G 3L1 on Sunday, October 6th between 2:00-4:30 PM.
