With profound sadness, (surrounded with his family), Allan Kenneth McLean passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia on November 20th, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Marjorie (nee Blythe) for 45 years. Loving and devoted father of Gary (Joanne), Nancy (Barry), Sandra, and Patsy along with stepfather to Darrin (Lesley) and Angela (Kevin). Proud and loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Survived by a brother Donald (Myrna)(Connie predeceased), sister-in-laws, Eileen and Emily. Predeceased by Edith (Don), Joe, John (Shirley), Marjorie (Bill). Also survived by a sister-in-law Donna (Juergen), brother-in-law Brian and predeceased by Carolyn and Walter. He was the son of the late Edgerton and Mamie McLean of Barrie. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Allan was born locally on a family farm and continued to live and work within the dairy community for many of his early years. He started in municipal politics as one of the youngest counselors in Oro and was warden of the county in 1980. He went on to be elected as the provincial member of parliament for Ontario from 1981 to 1999. He served in cabinet and on various committees and as well as speaker of the house. He had a genuine love for his constituents and the people he served. He spent 25 years wintering in Florida and had many wonderful friends from across Canada and the US. He loved to bike, play shuffleboard, swimming, hot tub and socialize.

Guests will be received at Carson Funeral Home -L. Doolittle Chapel 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705)326-3595 on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Thursday, November 28th, 2024 visitation from 1:00pm -2:00pm and funeral service at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the service at Carson Funeral Home. The family would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Dr. Aggarwal and the many other support services throughout the last few years. In lieu of flowers donations to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
