Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on February 6, 2025 at the age of 72. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Patricia Benson. Dear partner and best friend of Ida Baptiste. Loving and devoted father of Melissa and Lee Benson, Melissa (Brian) Kramer, Lara Kramer, Ira Kramer and Grace Livingston. Proud Mishoomis of Ruby, Ocean and Maddy. Survived by his brother and sisters Fran (James) Masterson, Ted (Susan) Benson, Sandra (Jim) Benson, Thomas (Charlene) Benson, Barbara (David) Simcoe and Melinda (Kevin) Douglas. Predeceased by brother Ronnie, Martin and sister Jo-Anne Benson. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews other dear family and great friends. Emerson will be remembered for his commitment to many things including being a knowledge keeper, story teller, and being a talented and accomplished baseball star in both Rama, Orillia and surrounding area. Emerson contributed greatly to the language, culture and community of Rama and will be grately missed.
Family, friends and guests will be welcomed at the family home for visitation at 6297 Bigwind Drive in Rama starting Friday,February 7 2025 until noon on Sunday where a sacred fire will be lit for Emersons journey to the spirit world. A service will take place on Wednesday, February 12th at the Rama Community Hall with visitation starting at 11 am to 1 pm followed by the service starting at 1 pm.
