Murray Robert Penney passed away at his home on Friday, June 14, 2024 in his 84th year. Murray is pre-deceased by his wife, Mabel, of 42 years, and survived by his sister, Roberta Robillard (née Penney). Special thanks to John Douglas, steadfast friend and trustworthy employee, for over 41 years.
Murray was a self-made man with a penchant for learning new things. Experience in the aeronautics world led him to start and develop his own successful business, but he loved to relax with friends, a beer in hand and a view of the lake. An avid golfer, pilot, and boater before later health complications, Murray enjoyed what life had to offer. He was larger-than-life, gregarious, incredibly generous, definitely opinionated and will be missed by those who knew him best.
Graveside service for close friends, family and colleagues to be held at Saint Andrew’s and Saint James’ Cemetery in Orillia on Tuesday, June 25 at 1 pm. Light reception to follow at Carson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Salvation Army in his memory.
