June 18, 1951 - November 5, 2018
It is with great sadness that Ron Rumsey passed on November 5, 2018 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. His loving wife Barb, of 42 years, faithfully held his hand through this journey and throughout their life together. He was a proud father of Ryan (Steffanie), Rebecca “Beck” (Josh), and Rhonda (Nathan) and a caring brother to Linda (Roger), Karen (Terry), Heather (Stu), and Marnie (Mark). Ron will be missed by dear friends, business partners, 15 nieces and nephews, and 6 grandchildren: Elijah, Reuben, Esther, Ruthie, Ella and Aidan. At a young age, Ron enjoyed restoring vintage sport cars especially his Austin Healy. He started his own business, Rumsey Construction, by building his first house at the age of 19. Ron loved to play practical jokes on friends and family members and loved sitting around the kitchen table retelling his favourite stories. He enjoyed time by the lake and taking trips to his pond with his grandchildren to feed the fish. Ron always took time to give advice and teach others how to fix just about anything. He was a mentor and loyal friend to many, especially his school pals and brother-in-laws. His sense of humour and dimpled smile will be missed, and his many memories with friends and family will be treasured forever. The Rumsey family welcomes friends and family to attend Ron’s Celebration of Life for a drop-in reception at the Mariposa Inn Best Western on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 1-4pm with words of remembrance at 2pm. Dress casual in your best blue jeans, just as Ron did on his wedding day. Any memories, stories, and photos of Ron can be sent to[email protected]. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the hospital staff for their excellent care and compassion. If desired, donations can be made to Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
