With family by her side, Autumn Irene Isabel Tudhope (Huffman) December 3, 1927, passed quietly at the age of 97 on January 21, 2025.
Autumn grew up in small town Orillia, daughter of Clifford and Francis Huffman, until marrying Lorne Tudhope and moving to Jarratt at 24 years old. This town girl knew nothing of farming and country life but learned quickly. Having 8 children; Roger (Carol), David (Linda), Ken (Michelle), Carol Hutchinson (John), Allen-predeceased (Vicki), Bruce-predeceased, Marilyn (Mike Smith) and Sue Learmonth (Gerry), she cooked and baked, sewed gardens and clothes, drove tractors and cows until they quit farming in 1972.
Mom went on to work as a bookkeeper for Lawrence Shaw Ltd until retirement. She was an active member of Jarratt Willis Presbyterian Church volunteering as bookkeeper for many years.
Mom travelled the world from every corner of North America to Australia, Turkey, China, Africa, the United Kingdom and so many other places. She loved to travel and instilled the sense of doing so in her children and grandchildren.
After 56 years of marriage, when dad passed, Mom moved into the Leacock Community in Orillia where eventually she spent her last 7 years living in the Leacock Retirement Lodge. Her sparkling personality, love of life and laughter allowed her to make many friends, and the staff loved her and treated her like gold.
Mom’s legacy is carried on through her children, 12 grand and step grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank the staff of Leacock Retirement Lodge for all their kindness, compassion and care of our mother.
Visitation will take place at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia on Saturday, February 1 from 4:00-7:00 pm and Funeral in the chapel on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 pm
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to any charity of your choosing as mom gave to almost all of them. She always said that Dad saved his money, and she gave all of hers away!
