WOOD, Douglas Elman Lloyd 'Del'

Wood, Douglas ‘Doug’ Elman Lloyd Wood of Orillia, previously of Hornby, Ontario, passed away peacefully the evening of February 10, 2025 with his beloved wife Linda and other family by his side at the hard earned age of 74. Proud father of Nathan (Palmy) and Lucas (Courtney). Grandpa to Mayhem, Carlito, Christabella and Quinn. He is also survived by his loving step-daughters Natalie, Denise (Charlie), Tracy (Bryan), Annie (Kris) and their children. Remembered with great fondness as Del by his siblings Darline (Glenn), Daryl, Denise (Peter), Dwayne, Danica, Derrick (Idona), Dean (Brenda). An unforgettable uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd Douglas Wood and Winnifred Wood, brother-in-law Doug Dailey and step son-in-law Ted. Doug was a hard working, creative and resourceful entrepreneur with a passion for the outdoors and being of service and in support of others. His ‘rough around the edges’ demeanour only made him more likeable to the long list of people who called him friend over decades and those who came into his life in recent years. His sense of humour engaged us all and when we needed it most, he showed so much care and kindness to others. He loved his early days with Scouts Canada and throughout his life collected stamps, die cast cars and much to our surprise an endless number of old tools. Gardening was his ultimate passion and plants filled every corner of his life. Everyone will take away a story about Doug (Del) and we hope you will join us to share yours as we host a memorial service at the Simcoe Funeral Home in Orillia. Visitation from 11:00 – 12:00 followed by a service at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
