Passed away at home on May 5, 2020, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 78. He grew up in Kornwestheim, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1965. Günter is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Carolyn (nee Bell), his siblings Renate Mordecai (Ronald predeceased), Wolfgang (Ev) (Sieglinde predeceased), Hartmut (Jutta), and Klaus (Gertraud). He was the loving father of Christopher and Stephanie Cluff (Brian) and proud Opa of Samuel and Rebecca Cluff. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws Rhoda Lawrence (Bud, predeceased), Glenn (predeceased) (Corinne), Tom (Linda), Donna Sanderson (Don), Wayne (predeceased), Neil (Pam), Royce (predeceased) (Marilyn), Blaine, Nancy, Brian (Carol), and Connie Wilson (Bill), as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Günter touched many lives as a friend, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and a dedicated elementary school teacher. He enjoyed a full, active life, travelling, golfing, skiing, sailing, and spending time at the lake with his friends and family. He was an avid sports fan, who Sam and Becca now picture him on a lazy boy, with a cold German beer, watching all of his favourite teams winning their respective championships.
His family is grateful for the excellent care given by all of the palliative healthcare team. Christopher and Stephanie also want to thank their Mom for the tireless care she provided during this difficult time.
Due to the pandemic, a private service will take place with his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mariposa House Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory would be appreciated.
