Passed peacefully at Soldier's Memorial Hospital on June 25, 2024 at the age of 77.
Beloved husband of Zeny for 33 years. Devoted father to Therese (Peter), Darcy (Janice); and stepfather to Sheila (Brian) and Jake (Sylvie). Proud grandfather to Joseff, Madison, Grace, Andrew, Ethan, Jordan, Josée, and Sonja. Loving son of the late Fred and Teresa Zwetko. Survived by brother Egon, and predeceased by brothers Edward "Eddie" and Frederick "Fritz" Zwetko. Predeceased by his loving wife Donna Zwetko in 1989. Dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Known to many as George, he immigrated to Canada from Slovenia at the age of 15, promptly starting his career with Kubota which spanned over 45 years. After retiring at the age of 62, George enjoyed many trips with Zeny to the Philippines, cruising through the Mediterranean, Rome, and many other exotic places. When not travelling, George found joy in spending time at home with his family, and bowling competitively with the Knights of Columbus.
As per George's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at Guardian Angel's Church, 115 West Street North, Orillia, on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00am. All are invited down to the Parish Hall following the mass for a reception and time of sharing memories of George. A private family interment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery.
