As a well-known Orillian, Angie Green-Hill has made it her mission to support mental health services in Orillia by striving to make mental health care accessible for all individuals in the community.
Angie’s efforts include co-ordinating the annual Silent Auction for Mental Health, which has raised tens of thousands of dollars for mental health services at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
OrilliaMatters was pleased to surprise Angie with a Random Act of Kindness to show our gratitude for the work she does to support the vulnerable population in our community.
“I chose to nominate Angie because I see what she does on a daily basis for Orillia. She is a giving, loving person,” said her nominator, Elizabeth Hickson.
“For the past five years, she has been incredibly active in the community and helps in so many ways. When she sees a need, she pitches in to do everything and anything to address it,” said Elizabeth.
“When I can brighten someone’s day with just a T-shirt, that is what is rewarding. The most rewarding part is being able to help the vulnerable population whenever we can,” Angie said.
With the help of our generous sponsors, we were able to thank Angie for all she does for our community with a Random Act of Kindness surprise. Our gift delivery included a gift certificate to Vettä Nordic Spa, Coco’s Cookies goodies and flowers from Evans Flowers of Orillia.
“I was super shocked,” Angie said to OrilliaMatters. “I hate acknowledgment and every year at my auction I do a picture with the big cheque and I make them chase me.”
“I have such an amazing support system with my husband, kids, in-laws, boss, co-workers and close friends in my corner no matter what,” Angie said.
Thank you to our sponsors, Rotary Club of Orillia and Evans Flowers, for making this Random Act of Kindness possible.
If you know someone deserving of a Random Act of Kindness, our nomination form is always open for new submissions.
