Colin Bidmead grew up on the hill above Coldwater, moving down to the village in 1987.
Bidmead is a champion of Coldwater’s mainstreet, saving the historic buildings, refurbishing them, and attracting new business to town.
Bidmead’s past accomplishments include President of the Coldwater Mill, Co-Founder and Secretary of the BIA. He currently serves as a Director on the Severn Township library board and Vice President of the Coldwater Steampunk Festival.
Bidmead has a passion for Coldwater and area, and it shows in his dedication to beautifying the Mainstreet with flowers, twinkling lights and classic autos on Thursday nights! Most every day you can find him chatting on the curb with townsfolk, putting up banners or helping shop owners and passersby with whatever problem the day brings.
No one argues that Colin is not the steward of the Village of Coldwater. A typical day can see him put air in a child’s bicycle tire, fix the sink at the Tiffany, help a teen with a fish pull the hook out, push a car out of a snowbank in winter, and even help lost tourists who don’t speak English find their family in the dark (true story).
Bidmead can also relate to the rural community of Ward 2 Severn. He grew up in neighboring Medonte Township and understands the importance of protecting the tranquility and beauty of Ward 2’s natural setting. Protecting water quality and farmland is non-negotiable to Bidmead.
His vision for the future includes responsible and practical growth, but at the same time protecting the environment and Ward 2’s natural assets.
His platform includes a trail along the river, consistent snow removal from the Main Street (Coldwater Rd.), and rural road improvements including enforcing speed limits.
