Hi, I am Connie Laughlin (nee Carrick). I am running for council in Ramara Township for Ward 2.
I am a mother of two adult children and have 4 grandchildren, and married for 32 years to my spouse Kevin.
I work for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services for 34 years. 25 years I worked at the Huronia Regional Centre in Orillia as a Counsellor, the past 9 years I have worked for the Ontario Disability Support Program in Barrie, Lindsay, Peterborough, ending in the Orillia office.
I believe I would be a good councillor for thought out my 34 years of working for the Ontario Government I have been involved first hand in many changes and adapted well to them. I believe diversity, understanding, ability to listen and learn make me a perfect choice for Councillor.
My family has been in the Township for many years, both farming and working within the Township.
I know I would be someone that constituents can approach and work with easily and I believe that there are no small issues.
I would like to see the Township move into the Twenty-first century, with bring businesses giving local jobs, along with the quarries that we have already, maintain and develop the roads within the township. Work to increase the population within the Township, by encouraging people to develop and move into our Township.
With a strong focus to continue to maintain this very rural piece of heaven for many more generations. It is vital to continue to protect our lakes, ponds, wildlife within our Township.
