David’s love affair with Ramara began in his teenage years when his parents purchased a northern Ontario resort. Fostering his passion for the resort industry, he soon enrolled in the Hotel & Resort Management program at Canadore College in North Bay.
After graduating, he was hired by world-renowned CP Hotels while pursuing his CMA Accounting degree. Later, David continued his business ambitions with successful stints in senior leadership positions including
- President of ACTA Ontario (Alliance of Canadian Travel Agencies
- Co-Founder and Director of TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario)
- President, Wholesale Travel Group
- President TDRD, ( over 200 travel agencies in Canada)
- VP Sales and Operations, Pizza Pizza
- Current President/Co-Owner of Dynapple (13 Applebee’s franchises)
Four years ago, David reconnected with his roots and moved full-time to his beloved Floral Park lake house he purchased in 1987. Inspired by his father who was the councillor for Ward 5 for 12 years and still resides in Lagoon City, David has long prided himself on taking an active role in his area, tackling notable issues like quarry expansion & community development, to name but a few.
David’s priorities are to:
- Protect our lakes, wildlife and farmlands
- Stop rezoning for Fleming Quarry Expansion
- Stop illegal soil dumping
- Prioritize community development for paved recreational trails
- Enhance affordable access to high speed internet
- Improve Emergency services
- Stream line road maintenance for greater efficiency
- Exercise fiscal responsibility
Bottom line: David is a “get it done” type person. David is excited to use his skills as an excellent relationship builder, strong communicator, and an active listener to serve the community in an impactful way and plot a course for the future of Ward 1, and the entire township of Ramara.
