My name is Joan Kelly and I am running for Ward 5 Councillor in Oro-Medonte.
Growing up on a small farm in Ward 5 taught me the meaning of community and the importance of being involved in something bigger than yourself. My husband and I live just a short distance from my original home and have brought our three kids up in this great community.
As an adult, volunteering has been a big part of my life. I've spent several years volunteering with the local community hall, as part of a church board, at my children's elementary school, and leading 4-H clubs. The latter two volunteer roles were for more than a decade. As such, it's evident that commitment is not something I shy away from.
I'm committed to issues that directly impact life in my ward as well as the township as a whole. I will listen to constituents and make informed decisions that will be in the best interest of the greater community.
Some of the prominent challenges in our area moving forward include the effects of the growing number of Airbnbs locally, as well as access to more reliable and cost effective high-speed internet.
I'm committed to putting my best effort into being your councillor by being solutions-focused and efficiency-minded.
