My name is John Thornton.
I’m running for Oro-Medonte Ward 1 Councillor.
My wife Valerie and I live in Horseshoe Valley. One of our three daughters and her family live in Sugarbush. I have friends in Carley, Moonstone and Vasey and am getting to know Braestone.
I will be a Councillor for all of Ward 1.
It’s special, Ward 1.
Copeland Forest, working farms, unique settlements, Ski Areas, newcomers and families with deep roots. It’s a great place to live.
We need to protect this oasis of ours.
It’s why I am running.
Ward 1 needs a Councillor who is accessible, listens and can get things done. I need your vote.
Some issues that any new Council must resolve in Ward 1.
- Large scale residential development is proposed and underway in the Landscapes and Sugarbush areas, changing nature of the area and requiring additional services.
- Private control of waste management and water supply is wrong. We need these services to be provided by the Township.
- The widening of Horseshoe Valley road will cause access and travel issues.
- Most Settlement areas needs traffic calming intervention to slow the speeders on local streets.
- 7th Line access from Diamond Valley needs to be reliably open.
- One of the biggest changes to Horseshoe Valley, Sugarbush and Moonstone communities is the influx of young families. The approved new school will be a key addition to the Horseshoe Valley Road Communities but what will the enrolment boundaries be?
