Scott Jermey – Oro Medonte Deputy Mayor
Scott Jermey has spent the last four years as the Ward 5 Councillor for Oro-Medonte and is now running for Deputy Mayor. While on council, Jermey has achieved a great deal. He put forward and helped implement new investment opportunities for the township, which can lead to lower taxes and smaller increases, and he has ensured careful budget and spending oversight. Scott served as chair of the Heritage Committee, made valuable contributions as council rep for both the Oro-Medonte and Orillia Chambers of Commerce, championed OMB reform and worked with all levels of government to ensure local needs are recognized.
Listening to residents has been one of Jermey’s core values during his time on council, and it will be a hallmark of his time as Deputy Mayor. Thoughtful, fact-based decision making, built on a foundation of transparency and respect for the taxpayer are at the centre of all Scott does, always kept within the context of respect for our heritage and a view to a bright future.
Key components of Scott Jermey’s platform include fiscal responsibility, minimizing the tax burden, building high speed internet and natural gas infrastructure, responsible economic and tourism development, and more recreational opportunities for all ages.
Born and raised in Oro-Medonte, Scott attended East Oro Public School. After completing high school in Orillia, Scott attended and graduated from the University of Guelph. Jermey has been a successful business owner and dairy farmer for the last 30 years, and still found time to volunteer in leadership positions with 4H, softball, and the Orillia Agricultural Society.
