A two-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 400 near King Road caused by driver inattention slowed traffic on a "messy and busy morning" due to today's snowfall, Ontario Provincial Police said.
Traffic had slowed earlier this morning as a result of an OPP Highway Safety Division officer at the side of the highway conducting enforcement, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.
"While they were on the side of the road, traffic ... was slowing down, someone wasn't paying attention to that and collided into the back of slowing traffic," Schmidt said in a video posted on X at about 10 a.m March 24.
There were no injuries as a result of the rear-end collision, he added.
The HOV and left lane have re-opened following closure for cleanup and the investigation, he said.
Roads were still wet this morning due to the snowfall, requiring driver attention, Schmidt added.
"You need to keep your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel and your mind focused on the task of driving. Please do your part, let's make sure we all get to our destinations and don't cause these types of delays."
