Driver, 3 passengers face drug charges following traffic stop: OPP

OPP says officers seized what appears to be cocaine, cash and other evidence of drug trafficking

Four people are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in New Tecumseth.

Officers from OPP’s Crime Reduction Unit pulled over a passenger vehicle with an obstructed rear plate just before 2:30 p.m. Friday on 8th Avenue.

OPP say the person behind the wheel was a suspended driver.

There were also three other people in the vehicle.

“While identifying each occupant, the officers observed a zip lock baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine,” OPP alleged in a news release.

“The vehicle was seized as proceeds of crime and upon completion of the investigation, officers seized the suspected cocaine, $1,605 in cash, and two cellphones as evidence to the offence of trafficking.”

The driver, a 40-year-old from Alliston, was charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order — three counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking — Cocaine
  • Obstruct plate
  • Driving while under suspension

And the three passengers were charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance — Cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance — Cocaine
