REESOR SIDING - The driver of a vehicle stalled on the side of Highway 11 is facing a number of charges, including impaired driving.
On Jan. 7 around 4 a.m., James Bay OPP received a call about a vehicle stuck on Highway 11 in Reesor Siding, between Kapuskasing and Hearst.
Officers found the vehicle. Talking to the driver, police determined that they had consumed an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and brought to the Kapuskasing detachment for testing.
A 32-year-old from Constance Lake is charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drugs
- Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine
- 2 counts of operation while prohibited under the criminal code
- Driving while under suspension
The accused was released from custody and is slated to appear in court on Feb. 25 in Kapuskasing. Their driver's licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
