Around 8:26 a.m., Sept. 25, OPP officers were called to a "multiple-vehicle fatal pedestrian collision" just south of Innisfil Beach Road, said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

Schmidt said there was a vehicle broken down in a live lane on the right side of the highway.

"It's in a construction zone — there's really no shoulders to speak of in that area," he added. "As the driver was exiting the vehicle, my understanding is they were struck by a passing vehicle."

Around 9:30 a.m., Schmidt said there are restrictions on the highway and only the left lane is getting by the crash scene. He said to expect "heavy delays" in the area.

Technical traffic collision investigators are on scene.
