A Midland man faces an attempted murder charge in connection with an incident in a convenience store parking lot.

Jacob Thomas Wallis, 25, is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to stop at an accident scene resulting in bodily harm.

Wallis is being held for a bail hearing and will appear in court at a future date.

Police were called to a Midland Avenue parking lot early Saturday morning and began investigating what they believed was a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured. The driver and the pedestrian had both left the scene before officers arrived shortly after 3 a.m.

Besides laying the attempted murder charge, officers also located the pedestrian, who they note is now receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

In a release, Southern Georgian Bay OPP said "investigators wish to thank those community members who assisted in this investigation."
