OPP officer charged with assault after incident at Santa's Village

The 45-year-old has been a provincial constable with OPP for 21 years and was off duty at time of June incident involving a youth, police say

An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer has been charged following an alleged assault involving a youth at Santa’s Village in Bracebridge.

On June 8, police responded to a report of an assault at the amusement park. The officer and the youth had left by the time police arrived, Bracebridge OPP said in a news release.

On Sept. 4, Heather Claridge, 45, of Bracebridge, was arrested and charged with assault. She has an Oct. 8 court date in Bracebridge.

Claridge has been a provincial constable with OPP for 21 years. Police say she was off duty at the time of the incident and is currently off on unrelated leave.
